Good Governance

Better Democracy for the Community

PDP-Center advocates for democracy, civil rights, and public service transparency and accountability, as highlighted in The 'Better Democracy for the Community' project 2010-2012. The project engaged with local community members in 4 communes, across 4 provinces - Siem Reap, Svay Rieng, Battambang and Banteay Meanchey. Project staff performed qualitative research, working towards the following outcomes:

1. Improved capacity and ownership of local democratic processes for marginalized members of the community (men,women, and youth);

 2. Empowered youth and women, participating in commune development planning with Commune Councils; and

3. Improved local governance including freedom of meeting, speech, and access to information, at the grass-roots level.

Demand for Good Governance

In 2013 PDP-Center partnered with Khmer Youth Association (KYA) and Khmer Buddhist Service in Cambodia (KBSC) to implement the One Window Service Office (OWSO) and District Ombudsman Office good governance initiative. As part of the project PDP-Center helped facilitate primary research, evaluating the effectiveness, quality and transparency, of OWSO administrative service provisions. The project was implemented in Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces, engaging over 200 local community members.  For more information about the project, please refer to the links below –
